Capilano University – Birch Building Façade Lighting

North Vancouver, BC

The Capilano University Birch Building is one of the main amenities of the North Shore main campus. A permanent lighting installation was added to the Birch Building and unveiled at CapFest, the University’s 50th anniversary celebration. It is now a mainstay feature for celebrating various seasons, holidays and events on campus including New Student Orientation, Convocation and Blues homes games, as well as community celebrations such as Diwali, Nowruz and Pride Week.

The lighting installation encompasses working with existing the architecture and electrical systems, ensuring no visible conduits, discreet placement of luminaires and no glare or visible impact to the surrounding environment. Using DMX control, CDM2 under the direction of the project team programmed static and dynamic displays for each community celebration, elevating the brand values of CapU.
