SFU Strand Hall
Project Details
Simon Fraser University’s Strand Hall, originally built in 1971, serves as the administrative centre of the Burnaby campus home to the offices of the President, VP Research, VP Academics, Finance, and Faculty Relations. The building recently underwent a major refurbishment to enhance its functionality, comfort, and energy efficiency.
The L3000 renovation reimagined 27,000 sq. ft. of outdated offices into a modern, high-performance workspace addressing ventilation, overheating, and thermal comfort challenges. The redesign introduced open, collaborative layouts, operable triple-glazed windows, and renewed skylights that maximize natural light and improve occupant well-being.
CDm2 LIGHTWORKS supported the project with lighting expertise, helping specify advanced LED fixtures and smart control systems that respond to daylight and occupancy. The new lighting strategy enhances functionality, energy performance, and comfort while aligning with SFU’s long-term sustainability goals.
