UBC District Energy Centre

British Columbia

The Campus Energy Centre (CEC) is UBC’s state-of-the-art hot water boiler facility, servicing all facilities on campus grounds. The facility includes three 15-megawatt (MW) thermal, natural gas fired, high-efficiency boilers, a Condensing Economizer – a cost-effective waste heat recovery system which improves the facility’s energy efficiency. The building features a double height boiler room, constructed primarily of steel and exposed cross laminated timber with a fully-glazed façade to allow pedestrians to experience the building’s function. The DEC is a LEED® Gold certified building.
