Charles Knuffke
Systems VP & Evangelist, Wattstopper and Legrand
Charles Knuffke is the Systems Evangelist for Legrand’s Wattstopper product line, focusing primarily on advancing the company’s Digital Lighting Management (DLM), Encelium and Architectural Dimming products. For 35+ years Charles has been an educator on controls, working in the field with engineers, contractors, distributors, and building owners to design, install, and start up lighting control solutions for most types of commercial and industrial project. Applications have run the gamut from simple standalone occupancy sensors in a space to networked lighting control systems for multi-building campuses. In addition, Charles has spent thousands of hours working with facility engineers ensuring that they understand their building’s systems and are using them to their fullest capabilities.
Acting as an ombudsman for his customers, Charles has attended uncounted California Energy Commission meetings concerning the development of the various Title 24 Energy Codes to provide real world commentary to the policy makers. He also presents regularly on the code’s lighting requirements to individuals and firms throughout the state.
Additionally, Charles is a past Chairperson for the Lighting Controls Association – the industry’s education leader on Lighting Controls.

This presentation educates participants on digital lighting trends and provides a thorough understanding of DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface). It covers the key differences between DALI, DALI2, DALI+, DiiA, D4i, and Zhaga, explaining their unique features and applications. Attendees will also gain insights into the fundamentals of DALI, including its uses, versions, types, and components. The session includes practical instructions on how to specify DALI for projects and reviews common FAQs. Additionally, it offers information on the DALI Alliance, giving a comprehensive overview of the DALI ecosystem.
Carol Jones
Lighting & Buildings Industry Leader
A 30+ year veteran in the transformation of the lighting industry, working on the digitalization and interoperability of commercial lighting on the path to lighting data integration and management, IOT, and Net Zero decarbonization. Carol has diverse professional experience as a lighting specifier, researcher, and program manager at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, in lighting manufacturer positions ranging from front-end innovation to product management and marketing for controls and luminaires, and the principle of Beyond Light Consulting. Carol has also been involved with various standards development activities, professional associations, and policy efforts throughout her career and is well-known as a speaker and author.
Gary Meshberg
Market Development Specialist, Legrand
LEED AP, LC, CLCP, IESNA, is a Market Development Specialist for Legrand Building Control Systems and is chair of the Lighting Controls Association. A 32-year industry veteran, he previously served as director of marketing, VP of sales, and specification business manager for significant lighting manufacturers. He serves on the IES Lighting Commissioning Committee, previously served as past education chair for the Dallas IES Section, and founded and served as chair of the Home Lighting Control Alliance.
