Creekside Paddling Centre

Vancouver,

British Columbia

The Creekside Paddling Centre located in Southeast False Creek is home to the Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival Society and is used by the BC Mobility Opportunities Society along with other paddling groups including Dragon Zone Paddling Club. The facility consists of six small storage buildings for non-motorized boats and paddling equipment, six floating docks and two entry/exit ramps to improve accessibility.  Floating lanterns were the inspiration for the centre’s design, which the architect captured by using semi-translucent panels and simple cube structures. The six boat sheds are internally illuminated at night to achieve a warm glow lantern effect in harmony with the surrounding landscape.
