Tsleil-Waututh Administration and Health Centre
North Vancouver, BC
Project Details
Nestled amidst ocean waters of Burrard Inlet and the North Shore mountains, the Tsleil-Waututh Nation’s new Administration and Health Centre is focal point for community and administrative affairs, meeting the needs of the growing community. Expansive community engagement and consultation contributed to the overall design and function of the facility. Representative of the local culture, the design is closely related to the surrounding cedar forests and the sea. The 31,000 sq. ft. facility boasts 360° views of forest and water, integral to the Tsleil-Waututh people. The central atrium is a Multi-purpose Gathering Space that doubles as a community centre and council chamber for local government.
The lighting was designed as one with the architecture, integrating with the wood construction while delivering the quality of lighting required for multi-purpose spaces.
